Alicia Keys Talks About Her New Business

Alicia Keys has a lot coming up before the end of the year. In a recent interview, the singer discussed some of her upcoming projects. Her new album, The Element of Freedom, is scheduled to be released on Dec 1, 2009, which is also World Aids Day. Keys is known for her philanthropic involvements for HIV and AIDS issues, most notably for being the global ambassador for Keep A Child Alive. KACA provides medicine to African families affected by HIV and AIDS. She is also involved with Frum Tha Ground Up, another non-profit that is active in HIV and AIDS awareness and prevention.

Keys is also involved with a beautiful, inspiring new jewelry line, The Barbers Daughters. The collection offers hand-made pieces of jewelry that features hand-carved, inspiring phrases in each piece, and the line is fairly affordable. The company was founded by Gisele Theriault. She is also the head designer of the line.

Her new entreprenurial endeavor, her new company AK Worldwide, will be a sort-of management company that will handle all of the singer’s projects, especially those outside of music. One of those projects is her new blog, iamasuperwoman.com. The blog is not yet up and running, but is in the works and will be active on Dec 1st, along with her album release. The main focus and goal of the blog is to inspire women, to put a spotlight on inspiring women around the world, and to create an environment where everyday superwomen can communicate and support each other. Keys credits Oprah Winfrey and other business-minded individuals with inspiring her to step outside of her box.
